THE CONSTELLATION AND MOVING ZODIAC OF LIBRA

A forecast analysis for each sign by element at the end of this monthly column.

At the inner point of light, where all is balanced in stillness, yet manifest in nature is Libra's challenge to equalilize the scales. Libra is the point in the zodiacal sphere where one realizes the polarity of the universe. Its path is the balance or reconciliation of the pairs of opposites within us, and without in our lives. Libra is an air sign and forms a grand trine with Gemini and Aquarius. All are intellectual signs communicating within their triangle of space, Gemini gathers information, Libra socializes and counsels, weighing the positive and negative, while Aquarius transmits the information throughout the consciousness of humankind and the universe.
Libra enters the zodiac sphere around September 22 or 23rd and leaves October 22. It marks the point of the fall equinox, and the balancing of the 4 seasons. In addition, this intelligence is a cardinal sign, which marks the change of the seasons, is dynamic in nature, and because it is an air sign, it likes to socialize and relate to others. Venus, the planet of love and beauty is Libra's planetary ruler. Venus is also the planetary ruler of Taurus, and this sign relates to love and beauty, artistic talents, possessions and values. Because these two signs are 150° apart, forming an inconjunct aspect, there is tension created that requires an adjustment between these signs, most likely involving the value of possessions in Taurus versus human relationships in Libra. A little self-analysis will show you where you are in terms of this aspect.

Polarity and Relationship

The zodiacal wheel is separated into 12 houses. Libra is the 7th house and is located at the 3 o'clock position on your astrology chart. When looking at each sign we also take note of the opposite sign, or opposite polarity, which in this case is Aries, and is located at the 9 o'clock position. Aries is about the self, while Libra relates to others These two points are very important as they are located on the 'Angles' of the chart, moreover, any planets that are located here will have a very strong influence. In addition, the Aries point is where the ascendant or rising sign is located, and the Libra point is where your partner, companion, marriage point, and business associates are located. These two polarities are the roots where your relationships with the self and others are positioned. In addition, if there are planets, or the moons' nodes in either of these two houses, your challenge is to resolve the inner conflict of relationships in reference of whom you are from within, which will express itself in your outer life. This is the polarity of Yin and Yang, positive and negative, the light and the dark, east and west, the sun and the moon, selfish desire versus spiritual harmony, and so forth. Libra's or those with a strong Libra presence in their chart, such as ascendant, moon, or a stellium need to experience relationships in order to grow. The intelligence of Libra is partnership and the experience with others, it is a very social planet as is Gemini and Aquarius, and all are in the same grouping of air. Often one with this position finds themselves in bliss or crisis, depending on the aspects to other planets and positions. The crisis can be numerous relationships, which have failed, or a codependent nature, that causes one to stay in relationships that are unhealthy for far too long. It is interesting to note here that Libra likes harmony and has the tendency to be too accommodating to others, while Aries can be more self centered and prone to power and control, therefore setting up the dynamic of polarization between the two, thus co-dependency. Instead of breaking away from a turbulent relationship, there is fear and belief in the consciousness that says I cannot make it on my own, how can I live without this other person. The conflict may be gradually resolved by establishing boundaries, focus, and determination to stand in one's own truth with self-confidence and restructured core beliefs. Not an easy task, but at some level we are all here to do this work, as humankind is about relationships, whether it is personal, business, financial, environmental, cultural, social or political.

When relating with others we are triggered by our biological and environmental blueprints (the astrology chart & our family). We tend to blame the other person, but what is really happening is their issues are triggering your experiences or value systems, which became imprinted upon your consciousness. Sometimes the programming we received from our parents and other caregivers was positive and sometimes not. Our work is to recognize that it is usually not 'about' the other person but some innate charteristic or set of values and beliefs within ourselves. Something or someone can 'trigger' these old emotional wounds and beliefs. As we become adults we learn to take responsibility for the choices we have made in certain relationships, careers and other situations that have not been in our best interests. As we begin to see the errors of our past, we can start to grow and change, and begin to understand ourselves. The first relationship we need to develop is the one within ourselves, following; we can then experience others in a loving relationship.

Libra’s Character

[v]Libra's keywords are harmony, relationships, nicely, choices, balance, and fairness. Venus is the ruling planet, which we know as love and beauty. Librans have a very easygoing nature and attitude, are dignified, gracious, refined and attractive. Their innate beauty is obviousness. They are cheerful, optimistic, and make wonderful partners and friends. However, they can frustrate others as they have difficulty making choices, therefore decision-making can be a long drawn out process. They see all sides of the issue, weighing the possibilities, and often will not make a decision, letting the universe make it for them. They can be gullible and easily influenced saying yes to other's suggestions and then wondering a moment later what made them agree! It is best for them to try to trust and form their own opinions, as they can become dependant on a stronger personality to make their choices. Otherwise, they can have a tendency to be somewhat submissive, giving their power away to someone else, which results in the corrosion of self-esteem. Because Libra is an intellectual air sign, they spend much time is their mind, judging what is right or wrong. They intensely dislike arguing, discord, and disagreements; however, it would be better for them to express themselves in some way. Otherwise, resentments gradually form which can result in the opposite polarity of Aries being ignited causing an unexpected explosion. When angry or resentful they become passive aggressive or elusive, not wanting to express their anger for fear of disharmony.
One of the reasons they have a difficult time with discord is the emotional turmoil is often too much for them. They would be wise to search inside themselves for the emotions they would rather bury; for losing control is not an appropriate behavior for Libras. However, accessing these emotions, by feeling, rather than thinking, would facilitate an inner healing and the release of unwanted memories and traumas held in the cells of the body. On the other hand, Libra's need to express themselves and communicate what is 'fair', and 'right', keeps them in balance. It is important for them to experience harmonious relationships, where there is give and take with equality. They detest vulgarity, and require a partner who is somewhat dignified and possesses good social skills and grace. Libra's are very charming, gracious, usually have wonderful taste in clothing, home interiors, and are drawn to the more luxurious items. They are romantic, refined, make wonderful and gracious hosts or hostesses, and are very diplomatic when working with others. The sign Libra and/or the 7th house rules law and justice, thus many lawyers and legal experts are from this planetary energy. In addition, those with the Sun or Saturn on the 7th house make wonderful counselors or therapists. Furthermore, career choices may include teachers of communication, computers, court reporter, interpreter, welfare workers, the beauty trades, fashion design, millinery, and artistic trades including music. Libra's have many friends, are involved in groups, have a good sense of vision for the future, work well with children and can make their dreams come true. Moreover, Librans prefer to work in partnerships and if opening their known business it is best for them to work with another.

Personality Disorders

All zodiacal signs have certain character traits, positive and negative as well as psychological, psychiatric, and medical disorders.

The Myth, The Bible, Fixed Stars, & Sabian Symbols

[viii][ix]The sign of Libra was once called Chelae and was part of the Scorpion Claws, which held a light. The interpretation is…. man has left the underworld and now has the light of wisdom to reason and make choices.

The scales of Justice are symbolic of the customs of Ancient Egypt and can be found in the Egyptian Book of the Dead. The God Anubis brought the dead from the underworld to the Hall of Justice where the soul would be weighed and judged. Osiris, the God of life and death judged the soul. The Goddess Maat is symbolized by a feather, the Feather of Truth. She weighs the feather on the scales, then the heart, if the scales balance, the soul will have eternal life. If there is an imbalance of heart and feather, the monster Amemait devours the heart.

I have always been interested and drawn to the Book of Daniel in the Bible, and amazingly came across the biblical interpretation of this custom. In Daniel 5.25, the scripture says, "Number, number, weight, divisions. And this is what it means: number, God has numbered the days of your kingdom and brought it to an end;( meaning death) weight, you have been weighed on the scales and found to be too light; (the scales of justice, and the heart was too light) divisions, your kingdom has been Divided up and given to the Medes and Persians." (the heart was eaten by Amemait)
Once again, we can see how scripture veils the hidden mysteries of life and death. In addition, the Greek Goddess Athena was also the symbol for justice and harmony.

Further passages in the Bible referring to the constellation of Libra are:
Bootes- the coming one, the one who rules, Ps 96:13 - he cometh to judge the earth; Enoch 7&8
Libra- the scales, weighing and purchase, Isa 53:10 - a sin offering (balance of lack)

Job 31: 6: 'Let me be weighed in an even balance, that God may know my integrity.' Good means what has struck a balance between the internal and the external. In Jewish thought, souls that had reached the balance were safe from the negative energy of the universe. Knowledge or higher wisdom weighs in the balance. This meaning comes out in 5 Ecclesiastics (16: 24- ): 'My son, hearkens unto me, and learn knowledge... 1 will shew forth doctrine in weight, and declare his knowledge exactly.' Strict control is as strong an element of scholarship as it is in the weighing of souls or of metals.

[ix]Libra contains three bright stars whose names supply us with the whole matter. The brightest (in the lower scale), is named Zuben al Genubi, which means the purchase, or price which is deficient. This points to the fact that man has been ruined. He is "weighed in the balances and found wanting."

Forgiveness is the key. However, we all know that it can be difficult. When we do forgive, we have so much more energy for ourselves; conversely, when our resentments are controlling us they use our energy every time we think of them. It' like spending money. How much energy do you want to spend on someone else who is probably not aware of your vengeance? Just something to think about.

Compton), and The Tarot (Case) According to the above-mentioned book on numerology; number 11 is the key for Justice and represents the Libra scales. 11 is a master number and gives the potential for connecting with the universe for inspiration and the possibility of advanced initiations of the soul. It is possible to reach a state of cosmic consciousness and /or enlightenment with this key. The tests and lessons of this key are to examine the meaning of your present situations and take appropriate action to correct the misjudgments of the past. The art of discrimination is the magical essence of this key, to weigh the past errors and achieve balance by correct action. You could say this energy is what one uses to travel on the path of an inner search, "know thyself and thy composition". It is interesting to note when Libra rises or is connected to the ascendant, it rules the pancreas and spleen in the body. These organs of assimilation, regulation, and elimination maintain the proper chemical balance in the body. It is through the elimination of toxins in both our body and our life, which leads to a balanced life.
Those with this placement will often have a sweet tooth or use sugar as a substitute for love, therefore overworking the pancreas, which in turn creates a low energy, and a need for more rest than usual. In addition, this attraction to sweets seem to lay in the personality trait of needing to be nice, polite, accommodating, and gracious. If Libra is on the 6th house cusp, than Taurus is on the ascendant. To clear blockages in this area, imagine a ball of blue iridescent liquid light entering through the top of your head, and allow it to settle in the throat charka and Thymus Gland (located on the sternum) . Then… breath in this blue light and imagine it penetrating through all the cells to the DNA level at your core. Take in more blue light, hold your breath for 4 counts and out slowly for 4 counts, Say to yourself, I am now releasing any blockages, imprints or any belief programs that do not serve my highest good. Repeat this mantra: " I am present and healed right now". Continue this mantra throughout the day. You will notice a change in your ability to communicate more freely as well as an improvement in your health. As we enter the month of Libra let us remember the vastness of this universe we live in, and the occurrence of polar opposites in creation. For instance our sun sheds its light, and the moon casts a shadow. Take for instance the phenomena of eclipses, either the sun or moon casts its shadow on the other.[xiv] For example, a solar eclipse occurs when the moon blocks the Sun totally or partially from the Earth’s view. In contrast, a lunar eclipse occurs when at a full moon when the sun and the moon are opposite each other and at the same zodiacal degree. The earth moves between the Sun and the Moon, casting it’s shadow upon the Moon and conceals it from earth’s view. Eclipses also occur in series and cycles, called Saro’s series. In addition, eclipses hold a pattern of consciousness that presents itself as an opportunity for healing the past; either personally, or globally. It’s almost like the sun and moon decide to have a clearing of their relationship with each other. This is finding a balance in Libra. For example, have you ever seen a couple where one person is an introvert and the other an extrovert, or one is a feeling person and the other a thinker? The balance comes from within the relationship where a compromise is established as one moves toward the other to find the balance point. You could say that the sun represents our consciousness mind and the moon represents our subconscious. In order to be in integrity these two aspects of the human psyche need to be in harmony, the inner world is expressed in the outer world. Therefore, when eclipses present themselves it is a good time for us to get clear and define our relationship with ourselves, others, and the universe. This polar opposite theme, positive and negative, ying, and yang, runs through our universe as fundamental building blocks. . As we know, the human psyche has its own shadow, as well as its light and kindness of spirit. Everything has its own part to play within a common pattern; the moon helps reveal the hidden depths of the pattern, the sun shines its light to purify and reveal the truth.

The results of your focus will show up on next full moon.

This event is a large partial eclipse occurring in western Alaska at sunset, just south of Anchorage near Kenai. Almost 93% of the Sun will be eclipsed. It is also interesting to note this eclipse will cross over the eclipse path of May 1993 which occurred during the Uranus/Neptune conjunction. At the same time, a set of Quintiles, angles which are 72° apart, are in the sky in a formation similar to the Harmonic concordance of November 8th last year. Quintiles are believed to be the gifts or talents that you just cannot stop doing. On the negative side this can create compulsions, obsessions, or addictions. However, this energy can turn in the opposite direction and be transformed into a positive energy, thus creating a talent that can be used for your highest good.

At the same time of the quintiles, there are also 2 five star pentagrams which occur on October 1st and October 27-28th (day of the lunar eclipse) For those open to spiritual energies, this is a time where access to other dimensions are possible. October 28th Full Moon in Taurus at 8.07pm PDT, (the Lunar Eclipse is at 5° Scorpio) shows us Globally where our planet is in consciousness. What have we, as global citizens created for our planet? Is it positive, or negative? How can we change to bring more peace and unity in the world? These are questions we all need to ask ourselves. What can we do individually to help humankind evolve in a positive way? Taurus is related to values, money, talents we possess, beauty and most importantly Love; ask yourself where your values are on these issues. Libra – It’s your birthday, Happy Birthday to all. Good news, Jupiter the planet of good luck, higher education, religion, spirituality, and travel has entered your sign and will be there for one year. This means you are in for a lucky streak. This is also a time for healing and letting go of all that does not serve your highest purpose. The eclipse falls in your sign, and it is a time to purge and reconstruct. Eclipses can bring awareness to what you have all ready dealt with in your life. It’s time for you to take action and plan your dreams. Work, authority, one of the parents and home and family are issues. You are becoming aware of how you are in relationships, not just with your partner, but all relationships to people, places, and things. Oct. 3 Venus, the ruler of your sign enters Virgo, don’t be too hard on yourself or others. Your perfectionism and critical eye will come out at this time. This is also a good time for a health cleanse. Make plans for travel, school courses, having fun and spiritual research this month. Aquarius – you are another air sign and belong in the same family as Libra. The eclipse will highlights your relationships, travel, as well. Water Signs

Scorpio – the lunar eclipse happens in your sign. By the way, happy birthday to you Scorpios too! Those born in the first week of the sign Scorpio and Taurus will feel this energy. The lunar, moon energy has dominion over our emotions, family, past, ancestors, and the Scorpio/Taurus polarity is related to values, beauty, talents, our money … and transformation, other’s money, inheritance, banks, death, rebirth. I have the feeling that this is a time to be careful with liquids of all kinds, accidents can occur globally when eclipses are triggered, the cruise lines may encounter problems as well as the earth’s core. Scorpio is about digging deep and I told a few friends of mine last month that I felt earthquakes were in the wind. Lets pray for healing of the forces, earth, wind, sea and fire. Pisces- You will feel the lunar eclipse as the moon was in Pisces as the sun entered Scorpio on Oct. 22. You have an opportunity to do some deep soul searching and sub conscious healing of your inner drives and compulsions. The full moon highlights your love and values , and asks you to balance your life, examine how you interact in relation-ships. Work, health, school, spiritual beliefs, and communication all come up at this time. Oct 3 Venus enters Virgo, your opposite sign, it is time to balance you inner conflict and stay true to yourself in the department of love, values, work, health, and service to others. Good days are 4,5,14,15,22,23.

Cancer – Well, this could be the month to look at how you relate with others. The solar eclipse is causing tension at home, with family, parents, DNA patterns, your career, the government, authority, and rigid structures you have build up around you. Saturn is still in your sign, which can cause a fenced in feeling. Things will work out towards the end of the month, when the Sun enters Scorpio. Now you have the flow and stamina to make positive change in home, work, relationships, and your inner self. Oct.9, 14,15,22,27 are feeling good days, or at the very least, you’re in sync..

Earth Signs

Capricorn – read the Cancer message. There is tension between work , time for yourself, and being in relationships. However, watch your critical speech and body gestures. The 4th , 5th and 6th may be tense. Fire Signs

Aries – The eclipse of Oct 14th will show you the other half of what you missed during the last eclipse in April. This time it’s the opposite polarity of Libra, read Libra’s message and the eclipse information. This is a time for you to balance the impulsivity of your urges. How you are in relationships will be highlighted. The lunar eclipse on Oct 28, show you where your values and talents are. Good days, 7,8, 16,17,20, 25,26. You will be very sensitive to criticism from Oct 3-27th, don’t be too hard on yourself either. You will think of traveling or going for a weekend trip, the16 &17 are good days for this. Think balance.

Leo – the solar eclipse will bring harmony and or decisions into your relationships and partnerships. This is a time to communicate what you want, be honest with yourself and others. Oct 28, the lunar eclipse shows you where your values are, other peoples money may enter the picture; but not without a little tension first. Oct 28 a positive shift In the love department. Sagittarius - read Leo and Aries, your siblings in the family of fire. You all blend into each other well, that is why you get along so easily. The Solar eclipse on the 13, 14 will highlight relationships and balance. Your travel bug is back, and you can have a positive outcome in any court proceedings. You may also find the perfect counselor, guru, friend, or therapist to help you deal with your over-expanded thinking and self-defeating subconscious patterns. An added note on fire…. Globally we can be in for a ride with eclipses, as they bring up what needs change and healing on Planet Earth, Mother Nature and in Humankind. For example, the possibility of earthquakes, volcanoes, and a higher incident of fire is likely on Oct 13,14,16,17, 27, and 27. Prayer, helpfulness, and environmental education are ways to balance the occurrence of such events.
